OAK HILL – A city-wide party in Fayette County is about to kick off; celebrating everything great about community.
If you look around Oak Hill you'll see the orange ribbons lining the streets, and that can only mean one thing: The annual Oak Leaf Festival is preparing for the weekend.
You can expect to see pageants and bands, car shows, and the famous chili cook-off.
Director Jack McClung says its hard work every year getting more than 100 vendors to fill the city, but it's all worth it in the end.
“It's an amazing feeling, it makes it all worthwhile. It just makes you want to come back year after year after year and put all this hard work into it again,” says McClung, “Because there is a lot of good that comes from it.”
The festival kicks off over the weekend at Oak Hill High School, and it will run all next week before wrapping up on the last day of August with fireworks.
