BLUEFIELD – A traveling memorial is on its way to Mingo County Wednesday evening, with a parade of bikers following close.

The mobile Vietnam Memorial Wall is making a 70 mile trip across southern West Virginia Wednesday.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Iaeger is giving the sacred memorial safe travels as it goes from Bluefield to Gilbert.

Bikers from McDowell County are escorting the trailer that is filled with the names of more than 58,000 fallen soldiers.

Local vets like Al Hancock were there to send the group off. He says he never misses an event like this.

“I have been to Washington to view the actual wall – they call this a moving wall – seven times,” says Hancock, “I'm fortunate because my name's not on there.”

The replica wall will be at the Larry Joe Harless Community Center in Gilbert over the weekend before it goes to Parkersburg for Labor Day.
