BRADLEY – Residents in northern Raleigh County could see a safer neighborhood if the fire chief gets his wish.
Neighbors in Bradley may soon see new fire station going up in their neck of the woods.
The Bradley-Prosperity Fire Department is looking to build a fourth station to help cover North Sandbranch, Sweeneysburg, and Cirtsville areas.
Fire officials say their coverage puts most residents within five miles of a station, with the exception of this area. But if the County Commission approves the construction, locals will get an added benefit.
“The area there would receive a much lower insurance rating,” says Asst. Chief Bobby Palmer, “Their homeowners insurance and so forth would be dramatically decreased, along with faster response times.”
The land was donated to the fire department. The current estimate for construction is $114,000.
