SOAK CREEK -- Dispatchers say the call came in just before midnight of the mobile home fire on Jasper Lane in Soak Creek near Sophia. Five area fire departments responded to the scene. One man was found dead at the scene this morning.

The trailer that caught fire is a total loss, while a second trailer that sustained damage is not livable. Locals say that this fire shocked residents of this small community, but they're rallying around one another.

Marlene Daniels, a resident of Sophia, says that “I've been here a year, over a year, it's been a good quiet neighborhood, nobody bothers, everybody comes and goes we speak and that's about it but were like i call it one big family here and to have this happen everybody was scared last night, panicking, crying and upset because we didn't really know what was going on.”

The victim’s brother told Newswatch off camera, the circumstances around the fire are concerning, the state fire marshal along with state police are handling the investigation.
