UPDATE: Authorities arrest arson suspect, release victim's name in fatal fire

SOAK CREEK - Authorities released the name of the man killed after his Raleigh County mobile home caught fire and arrested the arson suspect.

Carl Cox, 36, faces two counts of first-degree arson. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.

State Police said David Davis, 56, died inside his single-wide trailer on Jasper Lane in Soak Creek, after his home caught fire late Sunday night. Five area fire departments responded to the scene.

Three firefighters were reportedly taken to the hospital with injuries but have since been released. Two trailers were damaged in the fire.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and State Police are handling the investigation.

SOAK CREEK - Three firefighters were injured while battling a house fire in Raleigh County.

Dispatchers said the call came in just before midnight of the mobile home fire on Jasper Lane in Soak Creek. Five area fire departments responded to the scene, as well as Jan Care and Best Ambulances.

Three firefighters were reportedly transported to Raleigh General Hospital. No word on the extent of their injuries.

Dispatchers could not confirm if anyone was inside the home when the fire began. They told Newswatch crews are still on the scene.
