ATHENS -- The 28th annual Athens Concord town social began today on the concord university campus to promote a caring community. Guests were asked to donate items that contribute to community service projects.

The social featured live music, vendors, and plenty to do for the whole family. Vendors and several non-profits were in attendance that includes groups like Stuff-The-Bus and the Little Free Libraries. Locals say this event is great at connecting the university and the town.

Dr. Sarah Beasley, the Director of Retention at Concord, says she thinks “it's important for the relationship between a university and the town that they're in to show that good will to the community.”

Officials say that over 500 people made their way to the campus today.
