BECKLEY -- The Raleigh County commission met today in Beckley to hear what's on the agenda. The meeting started with a call-to-order, Prayer, and the pledge of allegiance.

Then the meeting got down to brass tacks, shifting gears to several new hires in the county, as well as detailing funding and contract approvals. But for some Raleigh County employees, today is their lucky day.

Dave Tolliver of the Raleigh County Commission, says that the “deputy sheriffs, circuit clerk, county clerk, prosecutor attorney, all full time employees it'll cost us approximately $170,000 per year for the raises.”

The new raises will be effective on August 15th. The next county commission meeting will be on august 19th.
