With students returning to school soon, parents are taking their kids to their doctors to get their mandatory school shots.
Mercer County schools resume this week while the rest of the schools in the area resume later in the month. School shots are commonly taken in the weeks leading up to the school year. Local doctors encourage students to come out before the rush.
"We're starting to pick up a little bit as far as the children immunizations for school in the 7th to 12th grade. We still want to remind parents don't wait till that last week. It's harder to get to your provider and you have longer wait times," said Candance Hurd.
Hurd says August is one of the busier of the months of the year for child vaccinations.
