BURKES GARDEN - Friends, family and supporters of a Virginia trooper killed while directing State Fair traffic in 2012 completed a 5K run Saturday morning in his honor.

Trooper Andrew Fox was struck by a car in Richmond on Oct. 5, 2012. To honor him, the First Annual Memorial 5K was held in Burkes Garden, a place where Fox loved to go.

The photo above is from this morning as several runners completed the 5K along route 727, which was also Fox's badge number.

Fox was a Tazewell High School graduate, so all proceeds will go to scholarship fund at the school.
