MINDON -- Today more than 100 women participated in the Gritty Chix Mud Run 5k that helped raise money for cancer charities. This run also offered an alternative venue to the would-be participants of last weeks cancelled dirty girl mud run in Charleston.  Officials say the support and donations from the community is what helped make this possible. The course included plenty of obstacles, water and more mud than one could hope for.

Brandi Wardwick, the event director, says that “we heard about the cancelled event in Charleston and at the same time we tried to plan something like this for the future and we said let’s just jump out on it we have a week, we can do a lot in a week.”

The run was also dedicated in memory Brian Jennings, a veteran whitewater guide who lost his battle with cancer earlier this month.
