BECKLEY – A unique fundraiser to benefit kids is set to kick off this weekend.
The 6th annual kickball extravaganza to benefit the Make A Wish foundation wants you.
The kickball tournament draws more than 250 players each year and raises upwards of $3,000.
Organizer Chris Meadows started the event years ago as an intern in college as a spin on the traditional golf scramble fundraiser format. He says the make a wish foundation works miracles for young children.
“Allow these kids to have one day where they feel like they're kids,” says Meadows, “Instead of going to a doctor’s office and worrying about their results and all this stuff. What we do is we grant them the opportunity to just go out and be a kid for a day and not worry about all this other stuff.”
There will be eight fields prepared for games at the Paul Cline soccer complex in Beckley.
