PRINCETON - A man and a woman were arrested after reportedly posing as emergency workers during a fire at the East River Mountain Tunnel.

State Police in Mercer County told Newswatch Colin Dunn, 30, of Maryland and Virginia Price, 30, of Maine are each charged with obstructing an officer.

Sgt. D. W. Miller said Dunn and Price took an emergency services vehicle, drove it through the tunnel from the West Virginia side to the Virginia side, put on firefighting gear, then attempted to assist crews on-scene. Miller said they were arrested after walking through the tunnel and entering West Virginia again.

The original fire had started around 3 p.m. Friday after a tractor trailer driver told emergency service personnel that his engine was acting up. The fire lasted for more than two hours before it was extinguished. The northbound lanes of the tunnel were closed for more than 18 hours.

Dunn and Price were arraigned Friday, according to Miller. Additional charges could be pending.
