BURKES GARDEN - Friends and family of a Virginia state trooper killed while directing State Fair traffic in 2012 want as many people as possible to come out for a memorial ride next weekend.

Trooper Andrew Fox was struck by a car in Richmond on Oct. 5, 2012. To honor him, friends will hold the first annual Memorial 5K in Burkes Garden, which is a place Fox loved to go.

Anyone interested can pre-register online here or call 276-988-3472 for more information. Anyone interested can show up Saturday, Aug. 2 at 8 a.m. along route 727, which was also Fox's badge number.

Fox was a Tazewell High School graduate, so all proceeds will go to scholarship funds at the school.
