A local university is remembering American veterans who served in the Korean War.
In honor of Korean War Veteran Recognition day which takes place Sunday, Concord University hosted a ceremony this Friday afternoon to recognize everyone that has served the country. Korean War veteran and Bluefield native James Kahle came in to speak to the crowd that filled up to the Wilkes Family Chapel in University Point.
"People went, men out of their homes. Husbands, fathers, sons, they went out there and did it. if they came home, they came home. If they didn't they're still buried over there. Lot of them are but we have to do it if our government gets us into it. I think we should go do it," said Kahle.
Kahle served in the military from 1951 through 1972 and was a member of the US Air Force 1st Comat Evaluation and an E-7.
