BECKLEY - Probation sentence for a woman with a prior criminal history who stabbed another woman in a local hospital.

DeeDee Johnson, 47, of Scarbro was initially sentenced in Raleigh County Circuit Court to one to five years behind bars, but then the judge suspended that and sentenced her to five years of probation. Johnson will also serve 60 days in jail, with a credit of seven days already served.

Johnson had pleaded guilty in May to unlawful wounding. She was visiting a patient at Beckley ARH Hospital in May 2013 when she began arguing with the patient's family member, according to authorities. Witnesses said the fight started because Johnson was angry that family members did not want her there.

The victim was cut four to five times and needed surgery, according to police.
