Man killed after car falls on top of him

DANESE - The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent accidental death after a car falls on top of a man.

Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler released the following information concerning this ongoing investigation.At 2:30 pm on Tuesday, notification was received through the Fayette County 911 Center of an apparent accident with injury in the Maplewood area near Danese. Units from the Danese Fire Department, Jan-Care Ambulance and the Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

Upon arrival at the scene it was determined that an individual had apparently been working on a truck that was elevated on blocks when the jacks shifted and the vehicle fell onto this individual, pinning him underneath the vehicle. Loran Jones, age 66, of Danese, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The initial investigation indicates that this was just a tragic accident," said Sheriff Kessler. "This accident does not appear to be drug or alcohol related and there is no indication of foul play at this time." This incident remains under investigation by Sergeant J.R. McMullen of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
