BLUEFIELD – Teens can learn life-saving driving techniques this week in Mercer County.

Team Safety Driving School based out of Arizona will spread its knowledge to Southern West Virginia.

A family member of a Mercer Co. judge is behind the driving school who is bringing the classes to Bluefield this week.

Teens will learn how to recover from a skid, avoid road hazards, proper braking techniques, and more.

Officials emphasize this is not a driver's ED course and is designed to implement muscle memory into students in case of emergency.

“Any time you can teach [kids] lessons; skills that have the potential to save their lives, I think it's a benefit to everybody,” says Judge Omar Aboulhosn, father of a 16-year-old, “And I’m doing this as a parent.”

Drivers will use their own vehicle during the 8 hour course. For registration information visit teamsafetydrivingschool.org.
