BECKLEY - Raleigh County churches have partnered with community organizations as their annual event approaches.

The Beckley Day of Hope offers assistance to the community in a variety of ways. Pastor John Jordan said last year’s event was a big hit, with thousands of pounds worth of groceries donated to needy families along with a hot lunch provided that day. Children received free haircuts and families had portraits taken for free, all while getting medical screenings. More than 15 community organizations come together to support those families who need assistance. All of these services will be again offered this year.

Jordan said, "I was just overwhelmed last year and again this year as we are moving closer to it and seeing how everything is falling into place and people are coming together."

The Beckley Day of Hope will take place on August 16th starting at 10 AM at the Paul Kline YMCA Sports Complex.
