OAK HILL- A local animal shelter is hoping that some of their special animals will be adopted.

The New River Humane Society spent Saturday afternoon at Twisted Scissors looking for new owners for a few of their dogs. The shelter has been visiting different sites in an attempt to increase their outreach and draw the attention of people driving by. The New River Humane Society lowered their adoption rates to only $40 for the day, which includes spaying or neutering, an initial shot and de-worming.

"We do pretty good with our adoption fairs when we go out. We stay full. We are at max capacity right now. Anybody that would like to donate food or volunteers, that would be greatly appreciated," said Felicia McKinney.

McKinney says the shelter plans on holding more adoption fairs in the upcoming future.
