GRANDVIEW - Following financial difficulty and new ownership, Theater West Virginia is set to have its first show of the season Friday put on by a cast of 38 actors.

As many as 600 guests are expected to watch "The Hatfields & McCoys" on Opening Day. Actors held a run-through and dress rehearsal Friday afternoon. The crew will perform the show 17 times through August 2.

Walk-ins are always welcome at the 1,100-seat amphitheater. Theater West Virginia's Scott Hill said he's relieved to kick off the season after so much outside doubt.

"I was told that I was crazy for even trying it," Hill said. "Well, it's here, we're up, and they also told me I'd never get it to this point. Well, we got it to this point -- not me -- a lot of folks, but we've gotten it here, and there is some relief about that."

The first show is set for Friday at 8 p.m. at the amphitheater in Grandview. Guests are welcome to arrive at 7 p.m. to hear the Heart of God Ministries Choir.

Residents can purchase tickets at 304-256-6800.
