BECKLEY - A Georgia man arrested in Raleigh County in March 2013 after police discovered eight pounds of marijuana failed to appear in court Thursday for his pretrial conference.

A warrant was issued for Edward Pannell's arrest.

Pannell had been initially arrested for possession with intent to deliver after the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department received information from the Charleston Metro Drug Task Force that a package containing contraband substances was being shipped through the postal service for delivery to a residence in the Prosperity area. The package contained 14 bags of marijuana with a total weight of 8 pounds and an estimated value of $50,000, according to officials.

Court officials said Pannell's pretrial will be rescheduled upon his arrest.
