OAK HILL - A group of churches from Virginia are in Fayette County this week helping with home projects in the community.
It's the 28th time the group of missionaries have come up to the region to help out. Organizers of the trip say about 110 people made the trip west. The volunteers are split up into different groups. Right now, they are currently working on seven projects in the area. One person we spoke too donating his time says he's just looking to make an impact in the area.
"We're down here on a mission trip. We're coming down to help people in need. Doing home repairs, roofing, siding, decks, insulating some houses, really just trying to help where the need exists," said Michael Garvey.
The group will be working in Fayette County until Friday morning when they head back to Virginia.
