BECKLEY - A man is behind bars after starting an altercation at a medical facility that sent a doctor to the hospital, according to Beckley Police.

Alvin Ray Williams, 31, is charged with malicious wounding.

Officers responded to a disturbance at Access Health on Carriage Drive on July 3 around 4:30 p.m. and found Williams being held down by several employees, according to Lieutenant David Farley. The investigation reportedly revealed that Williams had come into the office and asked to speak with a specific doctor, then when the doctor came out, Williams started punching him until office personnel broke up the fight.

Farley said the 67 year-old victim was taken to Charleston for treatment.

Williams is in Southern Regional Jail on $100,000 bond. The cause of the attack is still under investigation.
