GLEN JEAN - Fayette County deputies are investigating what may have led to a shooting near Drifter's Bar and Grill in Glen Jean early Saturday morning.

Dennis Charles Brown, 20, of Beckley, sustained an apparent gunshot wound to the arm at 3:22 a.m., according to the Fayette County Sheriff Office.

While Brown received treatment at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, deputies spoke with Ryo Wesley, the man who drove the victim to the hospital. Wesley said he heard about eight shots but did not know who fired the weapon, according to a press release.

Deputies questioned the bar owner, who told them no shots had been fired and there was no problem.

Sheriff Steve Kessler said incidents like this are not uncommon at Drifter's. The bar was forced to close for a week during the last shooting in December.

Deputies will wait to question Brown until he recovers, but they said these victims often refuse to cooperate.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fayette County 911 Center at 304-574-3590.
