WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS – Without volunteers there would be no golf. It takes a well-orchestrated and dedicated volunteer committee.
The Greenbrier calls these thankless individuals the heartbeat of the Classic.
There are more than 1,400 volunteers out at the course this week, but we spoke to one who has been at The Greenbrier for the last five tournaments.
Mayor Andy Pendleton from Rainelle has the hardware to prove it; pinned to her hat.
She's working hard Friday and for the rest of the week, helping guests get where they need to go.
“I make sure everybody gets the info where they are on the tees,” says Pendleton, “Just anything that's needed. I make sure people are okay with their water and everybody is where they need to go.”
The Greenbrier says 10 percent of volunteer fees go to charity.
