FAYETTEVILLE - A number of plans are underway for Fayette County Schools before students return in August, but the first order of business is swearing in a new interim superintendent.

Serena Starcher was sworn in by Judge John Hatcher at Tuesday nights board of education meeting. Pat Gray and Steve Bush were sworn back in along with Patsy Holliday as a new board member. The board quickly got to business on addressing school renovation plans at Collins Middle School, which is just one of many projects on a short list for Fayette County Schools. Serena Starcher is taking on an interim superintendent's role until a permanent replacement is made. Interim Superintendent Starcher says she will focus on a Comprehensive Educational Facility Plan (CEFP) to meet the educational needs of students.

"We have some school improvement initiatives underway. We intend to continue moving forward with those same initiatives, not making major changes to what we've been doing just making it a part of what we do everyday." - Serena Starcher, Interim Superintendent, Fayette County.

Also, new posters are set to go up all over Ansted Elementary School to encouragement students to do as they see. Ansted Elementary will also get a new playground installed by the first day of school August 13th.
