BECKLEY – A Raleigh County man appears in court in preparation for his trial.

Donald Dunn Jr., 24, and his mother appeared in front of Judge John Hutchison in regards to a potential conflict of interest today.

The prosecution questioned Dunn's mother in regards to her relationship with Dunn's new defense counsel Daniel White. The judge took the potential issue under advisement and will issue a ruling in the next several days whether or not White should be removed as Dunn’s attorney.

Dunn is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

Police say he shot and killed his stepfather, Mark McDermott, 47, and attempted to kill his mother in 2013.

Dunn remains in Southern Regional Jail awaiting trial.
