A Korean War veteran is hoping to raise money after his home was struck by lightning.

Howard McKinney has lived in his home on Blue Room Road since 1957 and has no intentions of moving. Despite large amounts of property damage, McKinney is hoping to repair his house and make it liveable again. His family is planning on holding a fundraiser to help the Korean War vet who says every dollar will make an impact.

"Well, it would help a lot with the money and stuff after the lightning hit because nothing is going to cover an act of god. That's the way it goes" said McKinney.

McKinney says that he was out of his house when the lightning strike hit his home.
