BLUEFIELD – A bank robbery Monday morning in Mercer County has police searching for a suspect.

First Community Bank in Bluefield was robbed this morning by a bandit on a black bike.

Police say the call came in just after 10 a.m. of an armed robbery in the drive-thru of the First Community Bank. The suspect produced a note and a firearm, then fled east on Scott Street with an undetermined amount of money.

The suspect was dressed in all black, wearing a black mask with Nike gloves, and riding a bike.

Police say the only images of the suspect are poor, and because they lack distinguishing details they hope someone in the area saw something.

The bike was recovered and that is the key piece of evidence right now.

“Everything on the bike was painted black; the tires, the rims, everything,” says Bluefield Police, Cpl. James Vance, “So if anybody noticed somebody painting a bicycle, freshly, late yesterday evening or early this morning, in their neighborhood, call.”

If you have information about this robbery you are asked to call the Bluefield Police Department at (304) 327-6101.
