A local art camp kicked off Monday at the Youth Museum of Southern West Virginia.
The "amazing art" camp is a week long program where the kids attending will create artwork using recycled items as their inspiration. The camp is comprised of kids ages six to 12 and is one of the many camps the museum will be hosting this summer. Tuesday, the kids will be visited by New York City artist Michael Albert. Art instructor Rebecca Beckett Jenkins says the children are creating lasting memories at the camp.
"They're learning to look at items at home a little differently and then they just got some wonderful pieces they'll have that they will keep. They're not going to be throwaway things. They will be thing that they keep and will remember" said Jenkins.
Jenkins says depending on demand, the museum may hold the camp again in July.
