Wineries across the state are in Crab Orchard today for the 16th annual West Virginia Spring Wine Festival taking place at Daniel Vineyards.
People from all over attended the event. They got a complimentary wine glass upon arrival. The family-owned vineyard features 114 grape varieties grown on 10,000 vines to survive harsh winters. Vendors included the Raleigh County Humane Society and the Women's Resource Center. The event is held in hopes of increasing interest in the local wine scene.
"We want people to know more and more about the wine industry in the state. A lot of people don't realize this but we have a thriving wine industry which is getting a little bigger every year" said Daniel Vineyards owner Dr. C. Richard Daniel.
Tastings at the event included wine from five different vendors from across the state.
