Problems continue at site of January chemical spill

CHARLESTON - Problems continue with a chemical plant in Kanawha County that tainted the water of 300,000 people.

Missed emails, unattended posts and miscalculations are among the issues facing Freedom Industries.

Federal investigations into the January chemical spill are ongoing, and more environmental violations are piling up.
But officials aren't rushing to penalize freedom for fear it would drain their cash. Regulators believe that money could go toward cleanup costs and bankruptcy claims instead.

The company plans to start tearing down its tanks on Wednesday, and then work to remove contamination from its site.
