GRANDVIEW - Golfers tee off to raise money for the YMCA of Southern West Virginia.
The 17th Annual YMCA Golf Outing is held Thursday at Grandview Country Club to raise money for children who want to sign up for the program's camps and other activities. CEO Jay Rist said there are 23 groups of eager golfers playing in the outing to support the Y. Rist said businesses and individual players come back year after year to show their support. Lunch and dinner were provided for the golfers thanks to the YMCA’s corporate sponsors.
Rist said he hopes these golfers continue to come back. "The businesses in our community have been supportive of this event for as long as it's been going on. To be in our 17th year is pretty special for sure. We just continue to grow the event as best we can,” said Rist.
Golfers represented businesses that are in support of what the YMCA does for the community.
Charles Hauck said, "number one, all the wonderful things that the YMCA does for so many people and basically I love golf. That's one reason I'm here and number two I love the YMCA and what they do."
The proceeds from Thursday’s outing will go towards yearlong kids programs, summer activities and athletic camps.
