PRINCETON - A third former Concord University football player pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge in connection with a home invasion last year in the Athens area.

Maricco Sanders of South Carolina pleaded not guilty in Mercer County Circuit Court Tuesday morning to charges of robbery and unlawful assault, stemming from an incident in November where Sanders and two co-defendants allegedly beat and robbed their drug dealer. Last month Riyahd Richardson of South Carolina and Russell Bailey of Beckley each pleaded guilty to conspiracy and not guilty to their other charges.

Mercer County Assistant Prosecuting Attn., John McGinnis, said, "this was a horrible mistake by all the parties involved and something that could have resulted on someone's death and we have had that happen. Under this plea were giving everyone the opportunity to fix their lives and become productive members of society."

Sanders, Richardson and Bailey are all scheduled to be sentenced on July 22nd at 9:30 AM.
