The humane society of Raleigh County is running a special event this weekend to help the animals at their shelter.

As part of their involvement in the "Just One Day" program, the Humane Society is running a 24-hour marathon from 11 this morning through 11am tomorrow. They're trying get 24 pets adopted, raise $2,400 for the shelter and pick up 24 new members. They're showing a movie at the shelter Saturday night as part of the program and will remain open throughout the night.

"We're real excited for today. We have adoption specials all day. The adoption special are $48 which that includes animals that are spayed or neutered. So that's a really good deal. We de-worm. We vaccinate" said Erica Stock.

This is the first time that the shelter is running the 24-hour adoption special as part of "Just One Day."
