OAK HILL - A local high school athlete is behind bars in connection to a party turned armed robbery in Oak Hill last month.

Javonne Malik Staunton-Bailey, 19, is charged with malicious wounding, armed robbery and conspiracy.

Oak Hill Police Chief Michael Whisman said Staunton-Bailey was wanted for allegedly being one of two men to point a .9 pistol at two party-goers and hit them with a bat.

Katelyn Marie Richmond, 18, allegedly orchestrated the whole thing. She was arrested May 11 and faces the same charges as Staunton-Bailey.

Richmond invited the two victims over to her home for a small party, knowing they had a good amount of money on them, according to the criminal complaint.

Staunton-Bailey plays basketball at Greater Beckley Christian School. He is in Southern Regional Jail on $50,000 bond.
