MOUNT HOPE - State Police said Tuesday night's checkpoint in Raleigh County was successful and resulted in three DUIs.

Seven people were cited for driving with a suspended license and one person was cited for drug possession, according to police. The checkpoint lasted from 8 p.m. Tuesday until midnight Wednesday along Route 19 in the Mount Hope and Bradley area.

Police said the purpose of the checkpoint is to deter impaired driving and educate the public about the dangers of driving under the influence. Officers urge drivers to assist law enforcement with the prevention of drunk driving by reporting suspicious drivers.
