Traffic stop leads to arrest of Fayette County man

MONTGOMERY - A traffic stop leads to the arrest of a Fayette County man.

Stefan Jerome Penn, 33, of Powellton, at approximately 4-pm Monday. A deputy from the Fayette county sheriff's department conducted a highway safety patrol stop on route 61 in Montgomery as a part of the Click-It-Or-Ticket initiative when he stopped a black Chevy Tahoe after observing that the driver was not wearing a seat belt. When' K-9 alerted the deputy to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle he conducted a search and recovered a large amount of marijuana as well as digital scales, packaging material and a small amount of money. He also recovered a semi-automatic pistol, a knife and a stun-gun.

Penn was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver and Being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm.  He was also charged with the misdemeanor offense of failing to wear a seat belt. He is currently being processed on these charges and has not yet been arraigned, so his bond status is unknown at this time.
