FAYETTEVILLE - County Officials in Fayette County have been totaling votes from last week's Election Day to make the results official.

Fayette County Clerk, Commissioners and a group of workers tally up votes from last Tuesday’s election results. County Clerk, Kelvin Holliday, said absentee ballots, emergency ballots and others were entered into the voting pool on Monday in order to finalize the totals of each race. Holliday said none of the race results changed in regards to who won, but a few races were close and a few votes could have made all the difference.

"Everything released election night is deemed unofficial and this is a process by which we finalize everything. The County Commission puts its seal of approval on everything. As you can see we have roomfuls of people here that are double checking everything. And we do everything properly here in Fayette County,” said Holliday.

Once canvassing is complete the election results from last Tuesday will be deemed 'official.’
