OCEANA - Two Glen Fork women were arrested after allegedly shoplifting from a local store.

Caroline Brown, 51, and Madeline Lashawn Bailey, 39, are each charged with petit larceny. Bailey is also charged with possession of a controlled substance for reportedly having a prescription Clolnazepam pill in her possession.

Oceana Police Chief Jeff Barlow said an officer was dispatched just before 9 p.m. Thursday to the Family Dollar just off State Route 971 at the Oceana Square following a shoplifting complaint. Barlow said the officer found the two women with a shopping cart by their car and questioned them.

The officer found miscellaneous items totaling more than $220 upon searching the car and the two employees confirmed the suspects stole the items, according to Barlow.

Brown and Bailey are in Southern Regional Jail.
