OAK HILL - A Fayette County School was recognized for academic excellence on Thursday during their graduation ceremony.

The Fayette Institute of Technology has been named one of the Premier Career Technical Centers in the state of West Virginia for the 2014 school year. Doctor Kathy D’Antoni, the Associate State Superintendent of Schools, presented a $1,000 check to the school on Thursday along with an award for continued excellence. Principal Barry Crist said his students are top notch and they deserve this state-wide recognition for their hard work. Relatives attending the ceremony said they could not be more proud of their graduates.

Parent, Joseph Ward, said he is there to support his daughter; “she went through a lot to get here. She really went through a lot and I'm really proud of her."

Aunt of a graduate said her niece is going places; “just so intelligent; we don't know where she's going to go but for her to graduate with Honors Society, it's the first in our family and I'm so proud."

Crist also said these achievements would not have been possible without the tireless work of Fayette Institute of Technology’s educators and staff.
