FAYETTEVILLE - A Fayette County woman will likely avoid jail time after stealing thousands of dollars from a West Virginia gas distributor.

Elizabeth Lynn Chapman Jolly, 48, will only spend time behind bars if she fails to comply with a five-year probation period.

Jolly previously pled guilty to one count of felony embezzlement after Bandy Incorporated accused her of stealing as much as $9,600 a month over a six-year period.

Bandy Incorporated is a state Sunoco distributor. Its employees were present in court Wednesday asking for Jolly to be incarcerated.

“When we built the new office building, we put the safe in her office,” Becky Bandy testified. “That's like putting the fox in the chicken coup.”

Jolly's civil case is ongoing .
