FAYETTEVILLE – Standardized testing continues this week across the state, and a change to the system has officials encouraged.
The WesTest continues into its second week focusing on the science portion of the test. Last week students knocked out the social studies section.
Changes to the test this year including moving part of it online. Director Jean Cavalier says it won't return the test results any quicker, but the goal is to make students more comfortable and give them access to more tools to allow them to succeed.
“They'll have a blocking ruler, they have a highlighter, that's accessible to them, a magnifying tool,” says Cavalier.
She says using computers is working well with students, “They do find that a little bit more engaging.”
Results of the test are expected to be returned by early August.
