OAK HILL - The dedication of a new pavilion will kick off the farmer’s market selling season Saturday in Oak Hill.
The Fayette County Farmer's Market will have a new venue to call home this summer after Saturday’s dedication of the Rick Rutledge Pavilion. The building was recently completed, just in time to hold farmers' markets for the growers and buyers of Fayetteville and Oak Hill. The Oak Hill City Commission and Fayette County Commission are credited for being the first to commit this space to the farmers who have had a presence in the community for over 8 years with no space to sell. City Manager of Oak Hill, Bill Hannabass, said Saturday’s event will not just be the selling of goods, but an enjoyable social event as well.
“It creates a market for folks that want to do that as well, our local farmers. It's a social atmosphere when you purchase at the farmer's market so we're thrilled. I think it's an activity, not just a market but an activity that's great for Oak Hill,” said Hannabass.
The dedication kicks off at 11 AM and goods will be sold throughout the day.
