FAYETTEVILLE – A woman indicted for embezzlement is sentenced with mercy in Fayette County court Wednesday.

Ashley Billips, 27, of Oak Hill is sentenced to 1 to 10 years in prison for her role in embezzling more than $3,000 from the Little General store in Oak Hill last summer.

According to police documents, Billips would ring up customers at the store then mark an error on the register to expunge the sale.

Rather than go to prison, Billips was granted 28 months of probation but she must repay the $3,155.21 in restitution.
