PRINCETON - Two pit bulls are in quarantine in Mercer County after biting three people and attacking another dog.

Mercer County Animal Control Officer Tracy Monninger said the dogs escaped from their yard on Thornton Avenue in Princeton on Tuesday by going under a fence. They attacked another dog next door and dragged it under the fence into their yard.

Two people suffered minor injuries while trying to break up the dogs and a third was sent to the hospital with a significant bite on her left forearm, according to Monninger. The owner surrendered the dogs following the attacks.

The pit bulls will remain in quarantine for 10 days and then a magistrate will decide whether they should be euthanized, according to Monninger. She said this case is extreme compared to other dog attacks.
