ANSTED – Men, women and children of all ages are invited to donate a piece of themselves to help cancer patients.
Locks of Love collects real hair from donors in order to make wigs for people who have lost their hair from cancer treatments. The Ansted Middle School has held a hair donation before and organizers said they had a great turnout, but want this year's event to be bigger and better. People of any age can donate their hair as long as it is 10 inches or longer in length and it can’t be dyed or bleached. This year's goal is to collect enough hair to make 6 wigs. Students planned to participate in the donation because they said they know it's the right thing to do.
7th grader Mallie Neff said, " I think it would make really happy an feel joy because they would know that somebody cares about them." Another 7th Grader, Jennifer Wilson said, "I think it's important because it makes little girls feel beautiful again."
The Locks of Love hair donation offers free haircuts and styles to anyone who wants to donate. The event will be held May 3rd at the Ansted Middle School from 11 AM to 2 PM.
