BECKLEY - A Beckley man is behind bars after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle and causing a police chase.

Timothy Runion, 34, is charged with fleeing from police in a vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Lieutenant David Farley said around 9 p.m. Friday, Beckley Police officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from the parking lot of the New River Town Center in the area of China Wok. Then on Sunday, police received an anonymous tip that the vehicle was traveling in the East Park area.

Officers located it on Powerline Drive and attempted to stop it but Runion sped away, running a stop sign and turning onto Clyde Street, according to Farley. Officers were able to get the vehicle stopped after a short pursuit. Runion stated he found vehicle when officers asked where he had gotten it.

Runion is in Southern Regional Jail on $15,000 bond.
