OAK HILL – For some parents the loss of a child is the end of the world, but some say the loss of a child you never knew could be worse.
Officials at New River Health know first-hand that pain, and how a lack of a support system left them feeling empty.
Now Natalie Burley is making a change and opening up to the community, welcoming those who have lost a child due to stillbirth or miscarriage.
The “One Step Closer” support program is holding a run and walk Friday May 2 in Oak Hill.
The campaign offers a support group and awareness of pregnancy and infant loss. Burley says just being there for each other makes all the difference.
“How we can inspire one another to be better and to reach out. Because there are no words to explain what you feel. So just knowing that the spirit of our babies can live on and reach out and inspire other families to heal.”
If you want to join the walk or run, it starts at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the Oak Hill Amphitheater.
