ATHENS – Today is day all about our planet, and a Southern West Virginia university is doings its part to pitch in.

Concord University is celebrating Earth Day by cleaning up and beautifying campus. The Board of Directors dedicated a tree to be planted at University Point, and others were picking up trash and spreading mulch.

Service projects across the campus highlight the day which is designed to not only help the earth, but as Interim University President Kendra Boggess says, also build lasting relationships.

“I think it's important for all of us to be a part of the community, and this builds community, and this builds friendships, and it gives us memories to look back on in the future of things that we did to make the place better.”

Concord will have more events and projects for Earth Day throughout the week. Call (304) 384-6286 for more information.
